Job Duties and Responsibilities of Assistant Director of Engineering
To provide overall engineering maintenance management including professional project and design management.
To ensure smooth operation and efficiency of the Engineering Department
To plan, direct, control, coordinate and participate in all areas and activities of the department.
To submit yearly the property maintenance and utilities budget. To ensure, expenses are in line with budget.
Developing and maintaining effective administrative and communication systems and requirements.
Communicate and follow up with stakeholder about specific maintenance projects and their goals.
To obtain maximum control of expenditure through effective use of manpower and physical assets.
Reports to the Director of Engineering on all matters affecting the operations of the hotel.
Communicate with respective departments about delays and any other issues that must be communicated to guests.
Liaising with consultants such as interior designer, architect, quantity surveyor, MEP engineer, lighting consultant, audio visual consultant and procurement agent.
To implement and where necessary to upgrade systems as required by corporate product standards.
Establish the Equipment Data record keeping, Preventive maintenance of Mechanical, Electrical, Fire& Safety, Civil, Guest rooms, public area, kitchen, back of house and audio visual.
Cost control programs through Energy Saving schedules.
Effective practice and enforcement of local regulatory compliance in relation to Fire Dept, Machinery and Health and Safety
Conduct staff evaluation as per requirements
To initiate and coordinate all work-related schedules.
Employee relations in relation to communication, maintaining motivation and good relationship.
Support the Director of Engineering in successful maintenance of the hotel and project delivery.
Job Requirement
• Diplôma/ Dégrée in Engineering, Project management or in an équivalent Technical Field.
• Basic competency in Engineering management, Project Engineering encompassing Mechanical, Electrical and Civil (Structural) and other relevant scopes. • Regulatory compliance competency ie City Hall and Fire Department • Basic competency in Occupational Health and Safety matters • Integrated Management systems in compliance to relevant standards that the Hotel is audited upon. • Familiar with Project based tendering Contract management scopes and able to prepare Tender and Bid documents. • Financial Budgeting and Planning
Minimum 6 years management experience in a similar capacity in a 5-star international hotel
Strength in organizational and administrative skills
Excellent business communication skills (verbal and written English)
Strong leadership skills and customer focused
Performance driven, assertive, self-motivator, hardworking, experienced and mature personality.
