Scope of Position 

 

The IT Transformation Lead will be working closely with the CIO and Group Director of Transformation to drive, shape and bring to life Mandarin Oriental’s vision for Technology.  

 

This role is a champion for change and ensures the strategic Technology initiatives are delivered on time, on budget and importantly will directly support MO’s overarching ambitions, delivering tangible improvements in efficiency and innovation.  

 

Our technology transformation is truly holistic, so the lead will oversee, support and enable the implementation of projects across all functions from Brand to Finance to Development, aiming with the aim to position technology as a true partner to the business. Major projects to lead will be in changing the way we work in delivering applications and data to the business, whilst also supporting the Technology leadership team to deliver their priority projects across Security, Infrastructure and Technology Operations. To ensure sustained success, the lead will collaborate with the IT leadership and P&C to build technology capabilities through targeted training and development, and follow a strong change management approach, to ensure engagement and clear communication throughout the transformation journey.  

 

 

 

 

Duties and Supporting Responsibilities 

 

  • IT Transformation programme management: 

  • Mobilise and drive programme to ensure successful delivery, enabling IT leadership team to successfully deliver their own initiatives 

  • Identify opportunities for synergies or improved efficiencies across the transformation  

  • Oversee risk management 

  • Develop and maintain project management deliverables such as project plan, integrated IT / Business roadmap, KPI trackers, budget 

  • Provide regular reporting to executive leadership on IT Transformation status and outcomes  

  • Change management: 

  • Develop comprehensive change plan, leveraging MO’s defined framework for change  

  • Execute activities as part of the change plan, including but not limited to: a clear case for change, training, communications  

  • Build and foster a positive mindset to embrace change during transformation, within IT and across the broader business 

  • Collaborate with IT leadership and P&C to develop and drive IT’s ambition and build MO’s skills and capabilities to execute  

  • Define and track progress and adoption of changes  

  • Collaborate with CIO and IT VPs to develop and design communication materials, training programme and conduct training where required  

  • Proactively communicate progress of the transformation and escalate any roadblocks to senior leadership 

 

Experience and Competencies 

 

  • 10+ years of experience in leading large scale technology change programmes in similar size organisations, preferably with hospitality or luxury experience 

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills to develop and manage relationships with broad range of stakeholders, incl. both external (owners) and internal (colleagues) 

  • Excellent track record in change management and communications 

  • Strong project management leadership 

  • Seeks continuous improvement opportunities 

  • Actively listens and builds on others’ ideas 

  • Culturally sensitive  

  • Experience with coordinating and facilitating workshops 

  • Self-starter, organised and goal-orientated 

  • Excellent written and communication skills
