Position Title: Head of Asset Management, Owned Hotels

Role Summary:
Mandarin Oriental is seeking a commercially driven and strategically minded Head of Asset Management to oversee the performance and value optimization of its Owned hotel portfolio. This role reports directly to the Director of Corporate Finance, and plays a critical part in driving financial returns, guiding capital investment decisions, and supporting operational excellence across the Group’s owned assets.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of hospitality operations, financial analysis, and capital planning, acting as a key liaison between ownership and hotel management teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial performance: Analyse the historical and forecast financial performance of the portfolio including monitoring of KPIs to drive improved revenue, profitability margins, and expense management to ensure the hotel is operating efficiently and in line with financial goals.
Strategic planning and oversight: develop and implement plans to increase the long-term value of the portfolio. Lead Capex planning and execution, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and ROI expectations
Market analysis and benchmarking: Review, benchmark and analyse hotel- and portfolio-level financial data to understand competitive positioning and market trends and identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings.
Operational oversight: collaborate with hotel management teams to ensure that standards are maintained at high levels. Review operational procedures, assess service quality and implement improvements.
Risk management: Identify and mitigate financial, operational, and market risks across the portfolio
Reporting: prepare comprehensive, regular reports detailing financial results, operational metrics and strategic recommendations for stakeholders
Core Competencies:
Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop long-term plans aligned with business and market dynamics
Analytical Skills: Skilled in interpreting complex data and identifying actionable insights
Negotiation & Communication: Strong stakeholder engagement and contract negotiation capabilities
Project Management: Experience managing Capex projects from planning through execution
Leadership: Ability to influence and collaborate across teams and functions
Risk Management: Proactive in identifying and addressing risks to asset performance
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with hospitality standards, brand guidelines, and regulatory frameworks
Preferred Certifications:
CHAM (Certified Hotel Asset Manager – HAMA)
CHAMP or CHA (AHLEI)
PMP (Project Management Professional – PMI)
Required Certifications:
CPA, CFA, or CCIM
