Based at the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong Corporate office, the Vice President of Global Sales, Asia Pacific is responsible for leading and driving the global sales strategy to achieve the company’s revenue targets and expand market share.
Sales Strategy and Planning (40%):
Develop and execute the global sales strategy aligned with MO’s brand positioning and business objectives.
Own global and regional key account relationships with C-level and decision-makers to ensure we deeply understand the business and market needs, and deliver relevant solutions which drive meaningful value.
Own, deliver and execute global contract process to secure volume business.
Drive co-ordinated approach to large RFPs to secure outsized business impact i.e. >$100K
Monitor and analyse global and property sales performance metrics to provide insights and recommendations in strategic decision-making.
Collaborate with other functional departments, such as Marketing and Revenue Management, to align sales strategies with overall business initiatives.
Support new hotel openings by developing pre-opening sales strategies, building market awareness, and establishing key client relationships to ensure strong performance from launch.
Team Management and Leadership (30%):
Lead a team of sales professionals across different regions and markets.
Inspire, develop, coach and mentor a distributed team to support their career growth and development.
Set clear performance goals and provide regular feedback and coaching.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that aligns with MO's values.
Travel and Relationship Management (20%):
Participate in annual Global Sales Calendar events, industry trade shows, and conferences to build and expand the network of potential clients and partners.
Represent the company in key sales-related events.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, particularly on C-Level and decision-makers, including corporate accounts, luxury travel agencies, and other partners.
Lead negotiations for major group and client contracts and partnerships.
Ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction through effective account management.
Sales and Process Improvement (10%):
Analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of Global Sales team with VP, Global Sales to ensure our planned MO events are being used as a strategic enabler to foster engagements with key global, regional and prospect accounts and drive business opportunities.
Provide insights to sales tools, technologies, and CRM systems to enhance sales productivity and enable data-driven decision-making.
Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet operational and/or other requirements.
Communications requirements
Exceptional communication skills to articulate sales strategies, build rapport with clients, and deliver persuasive presentations. Proficiency in English and additional languages (Mandarin and more) is an advantage.
Interpersonal Savvy - relates well to all kinds of people up, down, laterally, inside and outside the organization; builds constructive and effective relationships; uses diplomacy and tact.
Strong experience building & maintaining C-Level agency and client relationships.
Presentation skills at senior management and C-Level.
Minimum job requirements
Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Hotel Management, Business Administrations, Marketing.
10+ years’ experience working in hotels, travel trade or similar fast-paced industry.
Global sales experience is strongly preferred.
Proven track record of over achievement against ambitious revenue and growth goals
Significant sales leadership experience, including the ability to influence, develop and empower colleagues and team members to achieve shared goals with a collaborative approach.
Analytical and strategic thinking abilities to develop and execute sales strategies, and understand market dynamics.
Responsive and adaptive to changing workloads, timelines and outputs required.
Global Perspective: a global mindset and experience working across different regions and cultures are valuable. Familiarity with international markets and travel industry trends is beneficial.
