About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Paris within the Camelia restaurant team, the Chef de rang performs all the operational tasks and functions required in the outlet under the direction of the respective managers and supervisors, with the overall aim of serving food and beverages on time and delighting and satisfying every customer.

As Sommelier - Chef de rang, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Be responsible for the service provided in our restaurant, in collaboration with the Supervisor
  • Be familiar with the menu and dishes to be able to answer our customers' questions
  • Know and master all presentation techniques.
  • Maintain particularly close contact with our customers
  • Take wine orders and provide personalized advice to clients based on their chosen dishes
  • Ensure the quality of beverage service in the restaurant
  • Oversee the management and organization of the wine cellar
  • Maintain and prepare sommelier equipment
  • Ensure excellence in customer service throughout the service period
  • Train and support team members in wine knowledge
  • Ensure coordination between the team to provide a smooth and harmonious experience for the guest.

As Sommelier - Chef de rang we expect from you: 

  • Rigor, organization, attention to detail and courtesy
  • Excellent interpersonal and service skills
  • Successful experience in a similar establishment
  • Initiative and enthusiasm
  • Fluency in French and English; a 3rd language would be a plus
  • Hospitality education with a specialization in sommellerie
  • Previous experience in a luxury restaurant is a plus
  • Knowledge of wine regions
  • Impeccable appearance
  • Discretion and courtesy
