About the job

Based at the San Clemente Palace within the Sales & Marketing Department in Venice, the Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth from the Leisure segment by proactively developing business opportunities, managing key travel industry accounts, and optimizing market penetration in alignment with the hotel’s commercial objectives. This role ensures the property is well-positioned within the luxury travel space and nurtures strong relationships with high-value partners such as tour operators, luxury travel advisors, consortia, and online platforms. Reporting directly to the Director of Commercial Strategy, the Sales Manager works closely with the Revenue, Marketing, Events, and Operations teams to ensure commercial alignment, guest satisfaction, and brand consistency.

As Sales Manager, you will responsible for the following duties:

  • Define and implement the Leisure sales strategy in line with overall commercial goals and brand positioning.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of key leisure accounts, including wholesale partners, travel advisors, consortia, and online luxury agencies.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the leisure segment, both in established and emerging source markets.
  • Maintain close collaboration with the Revenue and Marketing teams to ensure alignment on pricing, promotions, and brand representation.
  • Represent the hotel at leisure-focused trade shows, sales trips, roadshows, and luxury travel industry events.
  • Coordinate and host familiarisation trips (fam trips), VIP site inspections, and personalised property tours for key leisure clients.
  • Collaborate with Mandarin Oriental Global Sales Offices (GSOs) to maximise exposure and drive bookings from key leisure markets.
  • Ensure that all sales activities, contacts, and account updates are accurately recorded in the CRM system (e.g., Delphi).
  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and customer feedback to adjust sales strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Develop and deliver sales reports, revenue forecasts, and performance updates to the Director of Commercial Strategy.
  • Actively support the wider Sales & Marketing team in cross-segment initiatives and commercial projects.
  • Promote and distribute qualified leads to other Mandarin Oriental properties, contributing to overall brand performance.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Director of Commercial Strategy.

As Sales Manager we expect from you: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, with a strong focus on Leisure segment in luxury hospitality or high-end travel industry.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage high-value travel trade relationships and grow account production.
  • Strong business development, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English and Italian; additional languages are a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of luxury leisure travel trends, seasonal dynamics, and key distribution channels.
  • Experience working with GDS systems, CRM platforms (Delphi), Opera PMS, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to attend international sales events, roadshows, and client meetings.
  • Degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
