Mandarin Oriental Jakarta is looking for a Room Attendant to join our Housekeeping team.

About the job 

Based Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, the Room Attendant is responsible for  responsible for the comfort and cleanliness of the guest rooms, He/she will work closely with the Quality Controller to ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort are met in all Rooms and Suites at all times. The Room Attendant reports to the  Housekeeping Supervisor. 

As Room Attendant, you will be responsible for the following duties: 

  •  Prepare your housekeeping trolley each morning, ensuring it is stocked with all necessary guest supplies, amenities, stationery, cleaning chemicals, and equipment to complete your daily room assignments without interruption.
  • Keep the pantry clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout the shift to support smooth operations.
  • Clean and maintain assigned guest rooms (occupied, vacant dirty) meticulously, following the exact cleaning protocols demonstrated during training, ensuring all areas meet the hotel’s high standards.
  • Identify any maintenance issues such as plumbing leaks, electrical faults, or damages in guest rooms and report them immediately to the maintenance team; follow up to ensure timely resolution.
  • Remove all soiled linens from bedrooms and bathrooms carefully and according to hotel procedures, avoiding cross-contamination.
  • Thoroughly clean bathroom fixtures including showers, bathtubs, toilets, and washbasins using the specified chemicals and equipment, ensuring hygiene and sanitation standards are met.
  • Arrange toiletries neatly on a designated cloth or tray in occupied rooms, ensuring all items are complete and replenished as per standards.
  • Make beds efficiently and neatly, ensuring bed linens are wrinkle-free and pillows are properly fluffed to match hotel appearance standards.
  • Neatly fold or hang guests’ clothing and personal items as instructed, showing respect for guest property.
  • Clean and polish all room surfaces, furniture, mirrors, and windows (inside and outside) to maintain sparkling cleanliness.
  • Collect and remove any used room service trays from guest rooms, hallways, and corridors, returning them promptly to the pantry and notifying for pick-up.
  • Vacuum carpets thoroughly and dust all furniture, baseboards, and fixtures, paying special attention to detail to maintain an impeccable environment.
  • Before leaving each room, conduct a thorough check to ensure all cleaning tasks are completed, amenities are properly placed, and the room is guest-ready.
  • Deliver exceptional service from guest arrival to departure in line with the Legendary Quality Experience (LQE) and hotel policies, going beyond expectations where possible.
  • Follow all company health and safety policies rigorously, report hazards, and participate in safety audits aiming for 100% compliance.
  • Ensure all occupied rooms got turn down service, vacant dirty rooms are cleaned and maintained up to the exact standard as demonstrated by the superior during initial training.
  • Attend and actively participate in morning briefings, meetings, and any training sessions to stay updated on hotel procedures and guest service initiatives. 

As Room Attendant, we expect from you: 

  • Minimum hotel/hospitality school/ college.
  • Posses a good written and verbal command of English.
  • Posses a pleasant and outgoing personality.
  • Knowledge of technique and skills required for a modern housekeeping operation.
  • Possess high degree of stamina, agility and flexibility.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the safety features of all equipment and responsible for the work place safety.
  • Very strong eye for detail.

Educational Background

  • Minimum education level: High School Diploma or equivalent (Secondary School Certificate).
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills to understand instructions, read cleaning procedures, and handle inventory.

Experience

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or room attendant roles in hotels, resorts, or similar hospitality environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with cleaning procedures, use of cleaning chemicals, and housekeeping equipment.
  • Experience in providing turndown services and handling guest requests professionally.
  • Ability to work efficiently under supervision and follow established standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
