Based at Mandarin Oriental, Hangzhou within the People & Culture Department, the People & Culture Supervisor is responsible for supporting the day-to-day People & Culture operations and administration, ensuring the effective implementation of HR policies, procedures, and colleague initiatives in line with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group standards. Reporting to the Assistant People & Culture Manager / People & Culture Manager, this role supports recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, colleague activities, HR systems, and administrative functions, while promoting the desired work culture through Mandarin Oriental’s 11 Pillars of Colleague Satisfaction and delivering an exceptional colleague experience.
As People & Culture Supervisor you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Support the daily operations and administrative functions of the People & Culture Department, ensuring compliance with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group standards, policies, and local labor regulations.
- Handle colleagues’ enquiries professionally and provide timely support or direct them to the appropriate person for further assistance.
- Coordinate recruitment activities including job posting, interview arrangements, candidate communication, onboarding, and preparation of employment contracts.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date colleague records, personnel files, HR systems, organization charts, and all employee-related documentation.
- Administer personnel actions, colleague data updates, attendance records, work permit documentation, and other HR administrative processes.
- Support the implementation of Mandarin Oriental People & Culture frameworks, including recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, colleague administration, and talent development initiatives.
- Promote effective communication across all levels of the hotel and assist in fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging work environment through colleague activities and engagement programs.
- Coordinate colleague welfare initiatives, including staff facilities management, locker administration, health examinations, condolence arrangements, birthday celebrations, loyalty awards, and other colleague recognition programs.
- Assist in organizing and supporting colleague events, departmental dialogue sessions, employee engagement activities, and internal communications through various hotel platforms.
- Ensure staff facilities, colleague areas, lockers, canteen, dormitories, and related amenities are maintained to hotel standards and follow up on maintenance requirements when necessary.
- Prepare departmental reports, maintain inventories and fixed asset records, coordinate purchasing requests, and manage departmental calendars and related administrative tasks.
- Guide, train, and support interns or junior team members to ensure work processes and standards are consistently followed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling colleague information and employee relations matters.
- Provide operational and administrative support to the People & Culture Manager and Director of People & Culture, and undertake any other duties as assigned.
As People & Culture Supervisor, we expect from you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Human Resources, Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in People & Culture, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- A genuine passion for people and creating an exceptional colleague experience in line with Mandarin Oriental’s values and culture.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Sound knowledge of HR practices, labor regulations, and People & Culture operations, with a commitment to ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity, maturity, and good judgment.
- A collaborative mindset, demonstrating teamwork while also being able to work independently when required.
- Strong administrative and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and MO P&C systems.

- Fluency in both Mandarin and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
