About the job
Based at the Emirates palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Rooms Division department, the Night Manager is responsible to provide leadership and direction at the Front Office during the night. Monitors performance and quality standards established by the hotel. The Night Manager reports to the Front Office Manager.
As a Night Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Oversee the efficient, compliant, and profitable operation of the hotel during the overnight shift.
- Optimize room revenue and occupancy through effective control of rates, availability, and last-minute inventory.
- Act as the senior management representative overnight and the primary point of contact for guests, ensuring prompt and discreet resolution of concerns and unexpected situations.
- Lead and supervise overnight Front Office colleagues, clearly defining duties, ensuring logical workflows, and maintaining operational continuity.
- Coordinate with Security and the Emergency Response Team during incidents or emergencies, ensuring full compliance with Life Safety and regulatory standards.
- Ensure all overnight operations adhere to corporate policies, Legendary Quality Standards, and hotel procedures.
- Compile, document, and report all incidents, damages, and unsafe conditions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain exceptional standards of personal hygiene, grooming, and professional conduct among overnight staff.
- Support all hotel departments operating overnight, including assistance with daily operations and events as required.
- Handle all guest feedback, complaints, and service recovery matters with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
- Foster strong interdepartmental communication and teamwork to ensure seamless overnight operations.
- Ensure a thorough and accurate handover to the incoming Duty Manager, safeguarding service quality, safety, and operational consistency.
- Manage all incoming reservation calls and walk-in bookings during the night shift.
- Execute the daily Opera night audit, including the night run and all related system functions.
- Perform the first accounting run, including reconciliation of credit card receipts, paid-outs, cash receipts, and foreign currency.
- Manage end-of-month financial closing activities in Opera in coordination with Finance.
- Ensure all night audit and financial control procedures are completed accurately and on time.
- Coordinate daily vacant room inspections in collaboration with Finance and Security.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Front Office Manager or Hotel Management.
As a Night Manager, we expect from you:
- Previous experience in the same role in a luxury hotel is required; resort experience is a plus.
- Fluency in Arabic language (spoken and written) is mandatory.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Opera PMS, and HotSOS.
- High attention to detail with the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proven ability to motivate, lead, and develop teams in a high-performance environment.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex operations and projects.
- Demonstrated capability in preparing accurate and timely departmental and operational reports.
