Mandarin Oriental Cristallo, Cortina is an upcoming luxury alpine resort set above the iconic mountain town of Cortina d'Ampezzo, in the heart of the UNESCO-listed Dolomites. Scheduled to open in Winter 2026, this landmark property will feature 83 elegantly appointed guestrooms and suites, many offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Blending the historic charm of the legendary Cristallo Hotel with Mandarin Oriental's legendary service and contemporary luxury, the resort will offer exceptional restaurants and bars, refined event spaces, and a world-class Spa & Wellness sanctuary with extensive wellness facilities. Guests will enjoy an unparalleled alpine experience throughout the year, including skiing, hiking, mountain biking, climbing and wellness retreats, establishing the resort as one of Europe's most prestigious mountain destinations.


Role Summary

As a Maintenance Technician at Mandarin Oriental Cristallo, Cortina, you will play a key role in ensuring the resort operates safely, efficiently and to the exceptional standards expected of the Mandarin Oriental brand. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance across the hotel, ensuring that all engineering systems, guest areas, back-of-house facilities and equipment remain in excellent condition. During the pre-opening phase, you will actively support the installation, testing and commissioning of the property's technical systems, contributing to a successful and seamless opening.


Key Responsibilities

Pre-Opening Responsibilities

  • Participate in the installation, inspection, testing and commissioning of building systems and engineering equipment.
  • Support the Engineering team during the handover process from contractors, identifying and reporting any defects or outstanding works.
  • Assist in setting up preventive maintenance schedules, maintenance procedures and engineering documentation.
  • Become familiar with all hotel plant rooms, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Support the installation and testing of guest room equipment, public area systems and back-of-house facilities.
  • Assist in preparing workshops, maintenance stores and spare parts inventory.
  • Participate in engineering training programmes and pre-opening operational readiness activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health, safety and environmental regulations.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing and general building systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house departments.
  • Inspect equipment regularly to identify maintenance requirements before failures occur.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and perform repairs efficiently while minimising operational disruption.
  • Maintain HVAC, lighting, plumbing, fire safety and other building systems according to established standards.
  • Ensure all engineering works comply with local regulations, safety requirements and Mandarin Oriental operating procedures.
  • Accurately complete maintenance records, work orders and preventive maintenance documentation using the hotel's maintenance management system.
  • Assist external contractors during maintenance activities and ensure work is completed according to agreed specifications.
  • Maintain engineering workshops, tools and equipment in a clean, safe and organised condition.
  • Support energy conservation initiatives and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in the emergency response team and assist during technical emergencies or unforeseen operational issues.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to both guests and colleagues while maintaining the highest standards of safety and workmanship.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Technical qualification or diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing or Building Maintenance.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in hotel engineering, facility maintenance or a similar technical environment; experience in luxury hospitality is preferred.
  • Previous pre-opening experience is considered an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and general building maintenance systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems independently and efficiently.
  • Basic knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations relevant to engineering operations.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.
  • Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in Italian is essential; basic English is preferred.

Compensation:
€28,000 – €33,000 Gross Annual Salary (RAL)
