Duties and Responsibilities
To maximize training by providing a creative, fun, and exciting environment in the delivery of training sessions.
To identify, establish and monitor operational, supervisory, and managerial Learning needs and requirements, and provide feedback monthly to the Director of People and Culture and General Manager
To produce a monthly Learning & Development report
To support activities of departmental managers and trainers, and to ensure that all Learning & Development activities are geared towards the achievement of the hotel strategic objectives.
To organize and record regular planned Fire, Health & Safety, COSHH, First Aid and Food Hygiene training to ensure that all legislation and Safe & Sound Guidelines is adhered to; as well as recorded and reviewed in conjunction with the FLHSS Manager where applicable.
To manage and deliver the 3 months MOve In Orientation Program including the 3 day Induction for all new starters in accordance with hotel and company standards and procedures.
To be responsible for the recording of all Learning and Development activities on the relevant databases.
To hold a monthly “Departmental Trainers” meeting together with the Hotel Manager in order to elevate the profile of Learning & Development and promote a greater consistency in the levels of Learning & Development delivered across departments, with a specific focus on departmental LQE’s, Pillars, Mission Statement and Departmental Orientation.
To chair the weekly Quality Circle meeting in conjunction with the FLHSS (Quality) Manager
To publish any Learning & Development, Awards and Graduations in a fun and engaging manner in the Back of House areas.
To organize Graduations of the Food & Beverage and Rooms Management Programs and any other development initiatives i.e. MOve Forward, MOve Up
To produce and communicate a Learning & Development Calendar encompassing operative, supervisory and managerial Learning & Development activities.
To support and counsel Heads of Department & Departmental Managers with their departmental and personal Learning & Development requirements.
To ensure Learning & Development expenditure remains in accordance with the People and Culture budget, and to liaise with the Director of People and Culture where appropriate to ensure appropriate allocation of resources.
To administrate the Performance Management System PROFILE for the hotel including providing a 2-day training for new colleagues
To monitor, support and coach the completion of Performance Reviews on the PROFILE system and for Line Level Colleagues by producing monthly reports, and on completion, to review Performance Appraisals identifying Learning & Development needs and to build these into training plans accordingly. To support the Food & Beverage and Rooms Management Trainee Program with workshops and relevant training initiatives in conjunction with the Director of Food & Beverage and Director of Rooms Division.
To prepare Management Trainees Training Schedules and ensure these are followed up and deadlines are met.
To support hotel recognition programs such as Colleague of the Month/ Manager or the Quarter, Learning and Development certificates
To manage, organize and partially deliver the Management Development Program MOve Forward and liaise with the People Skills Business Associates if applicable.
To manage and monitor the Education Assistance benefit (E-Cornell etc).
To conduct an annual Learning Needs Analysis and L&D Plan of all departments as part of the Learning and Development strategy for the preceding year.
To manage, support and deliver, where appropriate, current development initiatives including: 1. Introduction to Management Program (MOve Up) 2. On Job Training Techniques 3. To carry out any other duties that may be reasonably requested by the Director of People and Culture. People and Culture To support the Director of People and Culture in the following:
Recruitment and selection of qualified team members.
Managing the workforce in compliance with the hotel People and Culture policies and procedures as well as local codes and regulations.
Ensuring that the Legendary Quality Experience standards are implemented and respected by all colleagues.
Ensuring that colleagues’ performance is monitored and that individual career development programs are developed.
Maintaining a team of well-trained and motivated colleagues to deliver a high level of service according to Group’s and international luxury hotel standards.
Conducting and assisting colleagues counseling and disciplinary procedures in accordance with Mandarin Oriental, Bosphorus procedures.
