About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, Hong Kong within POMEC Department in Hong Kong, the General Technician is responsible for carrying out repair and maintenance diagnostics and solving engineering problems encountered. The General Technician reports to the Duty Engineer.

As General Technician, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Maintain proper and safe condition of all Plant, Plant Rooms, Equipment and Work areas.
• Comply with all Fire, Life, Health, Safety, Security & Environment (FLHSS&E) Standards.
• To be conversant with the Hotel Emergency Procedures.
• Perform Emergency Response Team duties as required.
• Be courteous, professional and service orientated when dealing with Guest, Patrons and Fellow Colleagues Members.                                                                                                                    
• Assist Guests, Patrons and Fellow Colleagues Members as and when appropriate.
• To carry out work in accordance with The Hotel Planned Maintenance Programme.
• Ensure all log books and records are kept up to date.
• Assist Engineering personnel with technical advice and ensure standards are maintained.
• Set up audio and video equipment for functions.
• Actively assist with Energy Conservation and Control.
• Liaise with other departments & contractors.
• Arrange repair work for all outstanding work orders concerning guest rooms and public and back areas.
• Monitor the performance and efficiency of all B&D sections.
• Arrange for repair for all electronic, micro processors, and computer controlled equipment.
• Suggest alterations or improvements for the systems operations.

As General Technician, we expect from you:

• Minimum higher certificate holder in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other related disciplines
• Holder of electrical worker license, Grade 'A' will be an advantage
• Holder of Fire Tube Boiler License, with Engineering plants and boiler knowledge will be an advantage
• Minimum 2 years' relevant work experience
• Basic computer skills
• Good spoken and written Chinese / Cantonese and basic English
• Independent and able to work under pressure.
