Food and Beverage Coordinator

Mandarin Oriental New York is looking for a Food and Beverage Coordinator to join our Food and Beverage team.

About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental New York within the Food and Beverage Department in New York City, the Food and Beverage Coordinator is responsible to handle reservations for “Mo lounge” and log all special requests and preferences in order to consistently delight and satisfy our guests.  The Food and Beverage Coordinator will assist in seating guests, provide server with guest name and provide occasional assistance to guests on menu items. Making sure “MO Lounge“ is guest ready, set up menus, flower arrangement, as well as organizing table tops and chairs.. The Food and Beverage Coordinator reports to the Director of Restaurants.

As Food and Beverage Coordinator, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Follow the posted opening and closing duties.
  • Take accurate and complete reservations.
  • Provide excellent service at all times
  • Set and maintain the dining room environment and material perfectly clean
  • To have necessary knowledge of menu items to assist guest occasionally
  • Assist guest and colleagues courteously and efficiently
  • Use the guest name appropriately and communicate it to restaurant colleagues and managers so that they can use it as well.
  • Assist in seating guests.
  • Assist restaurant colleagues prepare for service.
  • Sell gift certificates for restaurants
  • Communicate other necessary information with colleagues (i.e.: Birthdays, Anniversaries, Special requests.)
  • Handle reservations and prepayment for special events, holiday brunches, wine dinner, cooking classes, etc.
  • Coordinate set menus for small groups and distribute copies of the event form accordingly
  • Maintain cleanliness or the menus and print out menus as needed .
  • Inform restaurant managers on a daily basis of reservations forecast
  • Share information of all upcoming events with the Concierge Team
  • Assist in monitoring all guest needs.
  • Confirm daily reservations. Advice chef on daily reservations
  • Log in information about our guest preferences
  • Check on a daily basis for our regular guest preferences and record them in our daily list for the service
  • Print and post daily Journal.
  • Maintain and organize table flowers.

As Food and Beverage Coordinator, we expect from you: 

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, walk, push, and pull for long periods of time
  • Good computer knowledge and strong in office administration and organizational details
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent grooming and hygiene at all times

Pay and Benefits:

  •  Pay $26.54 to $35.39 hourly- commensurate with experience
