About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur / within the Engineering Department in Kuala Lumpur, the Duty Engineer is responsible to ensure continuous physical checking, preventive and corrective maintenance of all areas of responsibilities within the hotel. The Duty Engineer reports to the Asst. / Chief Engineer / Director of Engineering.

As Duty Engineer, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• To act in the capacity of the Engineering Department’s representative as a trouble- shooter to the guests, thereby continually working towards the better of guest contact and guest satisfaction.

• To assist the Senior or Assistant Chief Engineer and/or Chief Engineer and/or Director of Engineering to obtain maximum control of expenditures through the effective utilization of manpower and physical asset of the hotel.

• To maintain close liaison with other departments of the hotel.

• To maintain colleagues’ awareness of hotel policies and procedures.

• Coordinates and directs the colleague of semi-skilled tradesman in operating and maintaining the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building.

As Duty Engineer, we expect from you:

• Minimum 5 years working experience as Duty Engineer, in hotel experience would be an advantage

• Possess a diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical/ mechanical

• Able to analyse any malfunction of all mechanical equipment used in the Hotel

• Ability to write routine reports, keep logs and correspondence
