About the job

The Duty Engineer is responsible for supervising, supporting and assisting the supervisors and all technicians, ensures that all work performed is in accordance with specification.

Prepares the daily engineering reports, inspects all engineering/mechanical fittings on a regular basis and ensures that daily logs of plant/utility meter readings are made.

The Duty Engineer will be Service Orientated and flexible enough to support both the Guest and in-house Colleagues needs alike.     The Duty Engineer reports to the Maintenance Manager/Assistant Chief Engineer.

As Duty Engineer, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Responsible for the assignment of job/task to shift technicians and ensures that such completed work conforms to the standards so established by the Hotel.
  • Ensures energy conservation measures are attending to and contribute new ideas for further improvement/savings.
  • Conduct daily briefing of ENG.
  • Communicates with his immediate subordinates for the daily maintenance of equipment in accordance to establish engineering policies.
  • Attends daily meeting and disseminates appropriate information/instructions to his subordinates.
  • Receive all guest/other department engineering complaints and assign duties to technicians according to gravity of breakdown and job priority.
  • Conducts random inspection of all work done by technicians in his shift.
  • Ensure a proper and thorough handover of duties to the Duty Engineer on the next shift.
  • Carry out daily inspections of electrical rooms, water tank plant rooms, pool pump rooms, boiler room, fire command centre, generator room etc are done and written properly.
  • Appraises the performance of his subordinates and makes such recommendations to his immediate superior.
  • Provides guidance and technical training to immediate subordinates in the performance of their duties.
  • To manage all the energy management and waste recycling in the resort.
  • Be part of the emergency response team and train to handle emergencies in the resort.
  • Conduct daily swimming pool water test and ensure pool are top up & chemicals daily added to ensure pool quality is up to standard


As Duty Engineer, we expect from you: 

  • Holder of relevant certificate
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience with similar position
  • Basic computer skills
  • Operational experience from other hotel divisions or similar industry desirable
  • Shift work is required
  • Good communication skills and good command of written English & Chinese.
