Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, established in 1876, is a world-renowned luxury hotel on the Chao Phraya River. Listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 1988, it is managed by Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, with Italthai as a principal shareholder.

 

 As Director of Sales, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales plans and strategies to achieve revenue targets and increase market share.
  • Identify and evaluate new market opportunities and sales channels to drive business growth.
  • Directing the Sales team to ensure targets are met and exceeded, fostering a high-performance culture ensuring our team act as entrepreneurs within their segments.
  • Growing existing accounts and finding new revenue streams and partnerships, working alongside the Director of Revenue Management to direct the Sales Teams in driving upselling, identify market opportunities and developing partnerships accordingly.
  • Planning and executing sales trips, attending local and overseas trade shows and meetings to identify market opportunities as well as organizing and delivering FAM trips as required and meeting all influential clients. 
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team to achieve their individual and collective goals.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, travel agencies, corporate accounts, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and address any client concerns or issues promptly.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to inform sales strategies.
  • Prepare and present regular sales reports and forecasts to senior management.
  • Develop and manage the sales department budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
  • Work closely with the marketing, revenue management, and operations teams to align sales efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Plan and participate in sales activities such as trade shows, roadshows, and client events.
  • Ensure all sales activities comply with hotel policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to enhance sales performance.
  • Act swiftly to mitigate any negative impacts on sales and revenue.

 

As Director of Sales, we expect from you: 

  • Extensive experience in sales and marketing within the luxury hospitality industry, with a proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role, managing and developing a sales team.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively build and maintain client relationships.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills to develop and implement successful sales strategies.
  • Familiarity with the Bangkok market and its key players in the hospitality sector is an advantage.
  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Fluency in both English and Thai is required. Proficiency in other languages relevant to the market would be beneficial.
