Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Hangzhou within the Sales & Marketing Division in Hangzhou, the Director of Events Sales is responsible for achieving the catering target set for the conference & banquet market in the marketing plan. The Director of Events Sales reports to the Director of Commercial Strategy.

As Director of Events Sales, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Generate high yield business for function space and catering events for all segments.
  • Develop a conference, meetings, and banquet action plan with strategies to meet or extend goal and objectives in line with the marketing plan.
  • Implement measurable results prepare with appropriate strategies and measure Sales Managers performance against defined goals and targets.
  • Closely monitor daily sales activities of the Events team and the business production of each team member.
  • Work closely with Wedding Planners to develop the Wedding business for the Hotel and plan annual events calendar such as Bridal Fairs and salons.
  • Communicate directly with Banquet Operations Manager for all related banquets functions and communicate client requests to relevant departments.
  • Develop, implement, and manage yield management strategies on all function space.
  • Establishes Events sales targets, adjust sales coverage and distribute accounts in accordance to each events sales managers’ strength and potential
  • Ensures effective communication and cohesive working relationships with the team, the Marketing division, F&B division, and other operating departments.
  • Be aware of current market trends and supply competitors’ activity to all relevant department staff and Director of Commercial Strategy.

As Director of Events Sales, we expect from you: 

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant working experience in similar capacity
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function well under pressure, set priorities and adjust to changing conditions
  • Highly self-motivated, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin is required
