About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich within the Banquet Department in Zurich, the Director of Banquet is responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of banquet operations while consistently delivering exceptional service to guests. The Banquet Director reports to the Hotel Manager.

 

As Director of Banquet, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Strategic and operational management of the banquet department to ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Developing and implementing concepts to enhance guest satisfaction and profitability.
  • Collaborating closely with the event sales team and kitchen to ensure seamless operations and flawless event execution.
  • Ensuring the accurate preparation and execution of all events in accordance with the BEOs.
  • Leading, training, and mentoring the banquet team to maintain Mandarin Oriental’s renowned service excellence.
  • Overseeing and optimizing workflows and service quality in the banquet area.
  • Handling guest feedback professionally and implementing measures for continuous improvement.

 

As Director of Banquet, we expect from you:

  • Completed education in hospitality or gastronomy and significant leadership experience in the banquet department of a luxury hotel.
  • Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a multicultural team.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and a strong commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills in English and German; additional language skills are an asset.
  • Proficiency with POS systems and relevant IT tools.
  • A well-groomed and professional appearance with a confident and positive demeanor toward both guests and colleagues.
  • Flexibility and resilience, particularly for weekend and holiday shifts.
  • Excellent knowledge of German and English. Further foreign language skills are an advantage
  • Successful applicants must have the right to work in Switzerland
