The Role

As Assistant Front Office Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the guest experience during the exciting pre-opening phase of Mandarin Oriental Makati. You will support the Front Office Manager in establishing service standards, training the team, and ensuring seamless daily operations once the hotel opens. This position requires a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills, a passion for luxury hospitality, and the ability to inspire a team to deliver Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service.

Key Responsibilities

 Pre-Opening Preparation

  • Assist in developing and implementing front office policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and training of front office colleagues.
  • Support system testing, room readiness checks, and operational dry runs.

Operational Excellence

  • Supervise daily front office operations, including reception, concierge, guest relations, and bell services.
  • Ensure smooth check-in/check-out processes and handle guest concerns with professionalism.
  • Monitor room allocation, VIP arrivals, and special requests to guarantee personalized service.

Team Leadership

  • Motivate, coach, and develop front office colleagues to achieve performance goals.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as duty manager when required, representing hotel management in guest-facing situations.

Guest Experience

  • Uphold Mandarin Oriental’s service philosophy, ensuring every guest interaction reflects warmth, efficiency, and attention to detail.
  • Resolve guest issues promptly, turning challenges into opportunities for memorable experiences.
  • Collaborate with other departments to deliver seamless service across the hotel.

Administration & Reporting

  • Assist in managing departmental budgets, payroll, and scheduling.
  • Prepare operational reports and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and security standards.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 3–5 years of front office supervisory or management experience in a luxury hotel.
  • Strong knowledge of front office systems (Opera or similar PMS preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic environment of a pre-opening hotel.
