About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich within the Food & Beverage Department in Zurich, the Assistant Director of F&B is responsible for leading the Banquet operations and ensuring exceptional service for guests. The Assistant Director of F&B reports to the Hotel Manager.

 

As Assistant Director of F&B, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Overall responsibility for organizing and executing all banquet events
  • Operational leadership on-site during events, ensuring quality at every stage
  • Leading and developing the banquet team, including scheduling, coaching, training, and motivation
  • Close and ongoing collaboration with the Groups & Events Sales team to flawlessly implement client requests and event details
  • Coordination with the kitchen to ensure perfect timing so that food is served exactly according to the event schedule and in optimal quality
  • Supporting the entire Food & Beverage department, particularly with cross-functional tasks, projects, and quality initiatives
  • Active cost management, supporting budget planning, forecasting, and analysis of key performance indicators
  • Continuous optimization of processes, standards, and service procedures in the banquet area
  • Active contribution to F&B concept development and product innovation
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal regulations (HACCP, occupational safety, fire protection, etc.)
  • Participation in internal meetings, reporting, and project work at both departmental and hotel levels

 

As Assistant Director of F&B, we expect from you:

  • Completed training or degree in hospitality, gastronomy, or event management
  • Several years of professional experience in operational F&B, ideally with a focus on banquet/events in upscale hospitality
  • Proven leadership experience with a motivating, clear, and appreciative leadership style
  • Strong communication skills and confident handling of internal and external stakeholders
  • Structured and independent working style, strong organizational skills, and a high sense of responsibility
  • Service-oriented mindset, hands-on mentality, and strong quality awareness
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English skills. Further foreign language skills are an advantage
  • Successful applicants must have the right to work in Switzerland
