Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The Materials Agent will report to the Materials Manager and forms part of the Materials Management team who ensures all materials’ procurement and purchasing processes follows the best practices in relations to purchasing controls, quality, cost and inventory management. 

The Role of the Materials Agent - Purchasing

  • Verify Order Requests 

  • Follow-up on Order Requests, invite quotations and do necessary comparisons for approval 

  • Ensure that other factors affecting comparisons must be taken into account 

  • Create purchase order from approved Order Request and route for relevant signatures 

  • Keep contact with suppliers in order to obtain market information and negotiation 

  • Search for reliable suppliers for the smooth operation of the Purchasing section 

  • Keep records of circulation of purchase requisitions and purchase orders and follow-up on the order placed 

  • Maintain and update a library of catalogues, samples and price lists 

  • Maintain an efficient filing system of purchase orders, order requests, stock lists and other correspondence 

  • Ensure there is a continuous supply of stationery for the office 

  • Ensure overall tidiness and cleanliness of the office 

  • Ensure the general clerical tasks in the office are carried out daily, e.g. Filing, correspondence/mailing, etc 

 

 Preferred Qualifications And Skills 

  • Minimum SPM / LCCI or equivalent. 

  • Diploma in Accounting or Hotel Management or equivalent. 

  • Minimum 1 year working experience in a similar capacity in the hospitality industry 

  • Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin or other chinese dialects are an advantage. 

  • Knowledge in Checks EAM Purchasing system is preferred. 

  • Knowledge of HACCP and HALAL practises and requirements is an advantage. 

  • Sourcing on F&B market list will be an added advantage. 

  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to work with vendors.  

  • Analytical and detail-oriented. 

  • Detailed, efficient, organized and able to work in a fast paced environment. 

  • Must have employment rights in Malaysia.
