Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo is looking for Director of Rooms. This position is responsible for the overall operation, administration and profitable functioning of the Rooms Division which includes Front Office, Concierge, Guest Relations, Bell, PBX and Housekeeping. Provide supervision, direction and leadership for the Rooms Division in accordance with the objectives, performance and quality standards established by the hotel.
Qualification and Experience Required
Business level English capabilities
2-3 years' experience as Director of Rooms or Assistant Director of Rooms in luxury hotels.
Actual experience in a department head or manager role in Rooms division.
Well-traveled, enthusiastic individual, detail oriented, perfect presentation, computer skills. (Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Teams)
Strong people management and leadership.
Standard Tasks
Responsible for the efficiency and profitable functioning of the Front Office which includes Duty Manager, Front Desk, Guest Relations, Concierge, Bell/Door, PBX and Business Centre.
Ensure all Security Personnel work efficiently and diligently and abide by the rules and regulations of the hotel.
Maximize room revenue and occupancy by effectively maximizing yield and upselling opportunities.
Clarify duties and responsibilities of the respective positions in the Rooms division and ensure that work flow are in a logical and good order.
Ensure that Legendary Quality Standards, policies and procedures are properly understood and followed through
Control and analyse division and departmental costs to ensure performance within budget.
Monitor all aspects of personnel and training functions, including hiring, performance appraisals, counseling, coaching, training, disciplinary action, etc. and ensure all tasks are carried out accordingly by the respective Department Heads.
Ensure and maintain a very high standard of personal hygiene, behaviour and grooming standards of staff within the division.
Attend daily morning briefings and other meetings as scheduled.
Assisting in handling guest complaints and comments relating to the Hotel.
Ensure that the Legendary Service Training manual of the respective departments are continuously updated, maintained and used effectively.
Ensure effective teamwork exists within the division as well as with other divisions and departments.
Analyse rate discrepancy reports to ensure room revenue control.
Maintain an active succession plan for the Rooms Division in reference to continuous improvement.
Perform any duties that may be assigned from time to time.
