About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Accounting department in Dubai, the Paymaster is responsible for maintaining the Hotel’s payroll system to ensure timely payments of salaries and wages according to the Company’s policies & procedures; to ensure absolute confidentiality in regard to all payroll related matters and to be ethically compliant. Paymaster reports to the Chief Accountant.

As a Paymaster, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Manage the full payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely calculation and distribution of wages, bonuses, and deductions.
• Track and verify departmental overtime forms, ensuring proper authorization from department heads and senior management.
• Coordinate with People & Culture to confirm attendance and leave records are accurately reflected in the HRIS before payroll deadlines.
• Gather and verify payroll data from official documents such as contracts, leave forms, and personnel action forms.
• Resolve payroll-related inquiries efficiently and coordinate with relevant departments on changes affecting employee compensation.
• Support audits by providing accurate payroll records and maintain strict confidentiality and data integrity in payroll documentation.

As a Paymaster, we expect from you: 

• Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management and/or Accounting.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Paymaster in a luxury hotel, plus at least 1 year in other finance functions; UAE experience preferred.
• Proficient in payroll and accounting systems, with strong expertise in Microsoft Excel.
• High level of accuracy in handling payroll and financial data, with strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and issue resolution.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities to handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
