About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Food and Beverage Department in Dubai, the Order Taker is responsible to take all guest orders for in-room dining and will offer suggestions to complete and complement the guest’s selections. The Order Taker will monitor guest orders and offer assistance if required to the server under the guidance of the respective managers. Order Taker reports to F&B Supervisor.

As an Order Taker, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Provide expert knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including wine pairings and promotions, while maintaining professional phone etiquette and accurate guest communication.
  • Coordinate with kitchen and IRD staff to ensure smooth service, timely deliveries, and clear handling of guest requests, including VIP amenities and special preferences.
  • Assist in setup, clearing, and daily mise-en-place preparation; ensure office supplies are stocked and ready.
  • Use the POS system efficiently for order processing and billing, in compliance with hotel policies.
  • Engage warmly with guests, listen attentively to their needs, and make personalized suggestions while addressing allergies and preferences.
  • Uphold MOHG Legendary Quality Experiences (LQEs) by monitoring VIP orders, maintaining guest databases, resolving complaints, and creating memorable WOW moments.

As an Order Taker, we expect from you: 

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as an order taker in a luxury hotel, with additional F&B experience in 5-star environments preferred.
  • High school qualification required; diploma or degree in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills in English; additional languages like Arabic are a plus.
  • Articulate phone manner, basic food and beverage knowledge, and ability to make informed recommendations.
  • Proficient in POS systems, cashiering procedures, and basic computer programs like MS Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking abilities; physically fit with flexibility to work varied shifts.
