About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, within the Culinary Department, the Kitchen Receiver & Commis Cook is responsible for supporting kitchen operations by combining receiving and store management duties with hands-on kitchen production, ensuring quality, efficiency and full compliance with food safety standards.
The position reports to the Chef / Sous Chef.

As Kitchen Receiver &  Cook, you will be responsible for the following duties:

Receiving & Store Management (part of the working day)

  • Receive kitchen goods, including food products, beverages and consumables.
  • Check delivered items against orders, ensuring correct quantities, quality standards, expiration dates and temperatures.
  • Verify delivery notes and coordinate any discrepancies or issues with suppliers.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation following FIFO procedures.
  • Store goods correctly in compliance with hygiene, food safety and storage standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas, cold rooms and receiving zones.
  • Coordinate closely with the Chef and Sous Chef regarding operational and product needs.

Kitchen Operations (Other part of the working day)

  • Support the kitchen team in the preparation and cooking of dishes as instructed.
  • Carry out mise en place according to service requirements.
  • Follow recipes, presentation standards and service timings.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the assigned workstation.
  • Strictly comply with HACCP and food safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team during service periods and peak operational times.

As Kitchen Receiver & Commis Cook, we expect from you:

  • Previous experience in kitchen operations or F&B receiving/store management is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP), temperature control and expiration date management.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical work.
  • An organized, responsible and detail-oriented profile.
  • Flexibility to alternate between operational roles.
  • Strong team spirit and a positive attitude in fast-paced environments.
  • Highly responsible, reliable and committed to professional standards.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a multicultural team.
  • English language skills.
