About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Bakery Kitchen in Dubai, the Junior Sous Chef is responsible to assisting with the preparation and baking of a wide range of products, maintaining high standards of quality and consistency, and contributing to the creative development of new baked goods. Junior Sous Chef reports to the Head Baker.

As a Junior Sous Chef, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assist in preparing a range of baked goods, ensuring adherence to recipes and presentation standards.
  • Support daily bakery operations, including inventory, ordering, and equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate on developing and testing new recipes and seasonal items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and comply with hygiene and food safety regulations.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to their skill development.
  • Help manage production schedules and control food costs to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.

As a Junior Sous Chef, we expect from you: 

  • 5–7 years of experience in the culinary industry, with a focus on baking and pastry.
  • Familiarity with the Middle East market is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, dough handling, and pastry preparation.
  • Highly organized and efficient, especially in fast-paced kitchen environments.
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about the baking and pastry arts.
  • Excellent communicator and team player, with flexibility for varied working hours.
