About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, within the Housekeeping Department, the Housekeeping Supervisor Trainee supports the supervisory team while gaining comprehensive knowledge of housekeeping operations, quality standards, and people management.
This role is designed to prepare the trainee for a future supervisory position within the department.
The Housekeeping Supervisor Trainee reports to the Housekeeping Manager / Assistant Housekeeping Manager.

As Housekeeping Supervisor Trainee, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Support the supervision of daily housekeeping operations, ensuring guest rooms and public areas meet Mandarin Oriental cleanliness and quality standards.
• Assist in coordinating and monitoring the work of Room Attendants, Public Area Attendants, and other housekeeping colleagues.
• Participate in daily briefings to understand room status, arrivals, VIPs, and special guest requests.
• Learn to inspect guest rooms and public areas, ensuring compliance with brand standards and identifying maintenance or cleanliness issues.
• Support the handling of guest requests and complaints related to housekeeping, ensuring timely resolution and service recovery.
• Become familiar with linen and amenities control, inventories, and stock management.
• Assist in monitoring cleaning supplies, equipment usage, and housekeeping inventories.
• Learn housekeeping procedures, standards, and health & safety regulations, including proper use of cleaning products and tools.
• Collaborate closely with Front Office, Engineering, and Guest Experience teams to ensure seamless operations.
• Gain exposure to scheduling, attendance control, and basic administrative tasks within the department.
• Support the onboarding and basic training of new housekeeping colleagues when required.
• Promote a positive working environment through professional communication, teamwork, and respect.
• Understand and support sustainability initiatives and environmentally responsible housekeeping practices.

• Willingness to learn supervisory responsibilities and operational procedures.

• Good communication skills and team spirit.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Fluency in English; Spanish and additional languages are an asset.
