About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Milan within the Spa Department, the Head Spa Therapist supervises the Spa Therapist team and reports to the Director of Spa. Ensure the full operational efficiency of the spa and therapy department by guaranteeing that all treatments are performed in accordance with company protocols and service standards, while training and motivating the team and contributing to the achievement of the spa’s commercial and quality objectives.

As Head Spa Therapist, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Conduct induction training for new therapists within the spa
• Refresher training for all therapists to ensure comfort in the treatment descriptions to guests
• Continual Retail training for the entire team.
• Organize role play/ self-assessment to help increase quality standards and scores, i.e. LQA, Forbes
• Supervise and lead the therapist team.
• Train and develop therapist skills.
• Deliver wellness treatments (including massages, facial and body treatments  and signatures) at the highest standard of excellence
• Ensure treatment quality and client satisfaction.
• Ensure that the Spa Therapists team performs treatments in accordance with established protocols and quality standards
• Attends daily line-ups, weekly and monthly spa meetings.
• Recommends and up-sells spa products and services that fit the guests' needs.
• Support the commercial growth of the spa by promoting treatment packages, upselling retail products, and enhancing guest loyalty.
• Stay updated on wellness and spa trends, techniques, and products, and propose innovations to the team and management.
• Organize schedules and manage appointments.
• Handle stock and inventory management.
• Address client requests and concerns.
• Maintain hygiene and treatment room upkeep. Contribute to service development and promotions.

As Head Spa Therapist we expect from you:

• You have previous experience in a similar position within the upscale hospitality sector.
• Your interpersonal skills, active listening, and enthusiasm are true assets for this role.
• Fluency in Italian and English is required, along with a third language.
