About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Accounting Department in Dubai, the Financial Accountant is responsible for analysing the balance sheets, cash flows & P&L statements for abnormalities. Financial Accountant will be overlooking the payroll process and the accounts payable. The Financial Accountant must act as the Chief Accountant during his/her absence. Financial Accountant reports to Chief Accountant.

As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Monitor daily in-house reports, verify completeness of operation packages, assist with surprise cash counts, and ensure accurate outlet gratuity reconciliations.
  • Support the Chief Accountant in month-end closing activities, journal preparations, and reconciliation of general ledger and sub-ledger accounts.
  • Regularly analyse balance sheet accounts, verify cash-related transactions, and ensure all accounts are accurately maintained and cleared as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting policies, liaise with auditors, prepare necessary documentation, and stay updated on relevant regulations.
  • Oversee the filing of financial records, ensure document retention compliance, and maintain an accurate Chart of Accounts.
  • Assist across various finance functions (e.g., payroll, AR/AP), ensure proper handling of tax matters, attend tax seminars, and support secretarial tasks when required.

As a Financial Accountant, we expect from you: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with professional certification such as CPA or CMA.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in hospitality finance/accounting.
  • Proficient in key systems including PMS, POS, Purchasing, Payroll, and Reporting—preferably Springer Miller, Infogenesis, Moreton Bay, Oasys, SUN System, and Hyperion Planning.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, along with strong analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrates leadership and interpersonal skills essential for team and cross-departmental collaboration.
