Finance Supervisor

As Finance Supervisor, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Supervise the day-to-day accounting activities within the Finance Department, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance with company policies and procedures;
  • Review and verify accounting entries, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation to maintain the integrity of financial records;
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes and support the preparation of financial reports and management information; 
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities, ensuring timely processing, accurate reconciliations and efficient collection of outstanding balances;
  • Review supplier reconciliations, resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure compliance with purchasing and approval procedures; 
  • Monitor daily revenue postings, review general ledger transactions and ensure all financial transactions are correctly coded and allocated;
  • Review cash and banking reconciliations and support treasury and cash management activities whilst safeguarding company assets through effective controls;
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with statutory, tax and Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group requirements; 
  • Supervise, train and coach Finance colleagues, allocating work effectively and supporting their ongoing development;
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance efficiencies and support finance-related projects and system implementations;

As Finance Supervisor we expect from you:

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment;
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred;
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, reconciliations and month-end closing processes;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel;
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with a high level of integrity and attention to detail; 
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and thrive in a dynamic luxury hospitality environment.

Purpose of Position To assist the Director of Finance in his/her responsibilities in controlling the hotel’s business. To complete duties with a sense of responsibility, commitment and consistently high standards. Dimensions To direct and manage the day to day functions of the accounting office; ensuring all areas of accountability are performed within the standards set in the P & P Manual; that good communication and working relationships are maintained between the accounting functions and the hotel; and to actively monitor, assess and advise on standards of performance and working practises.
