About the Job

Based at Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, the Engineering Intern will support the hotel’s Engineering team in maintaining and improving the property’s technical operations. This role focuses on electrical systems, mechanical equipment, and preventive maintenance to ensure the hotel operates safely, efficiently, and in line with Mandarin Oriental’s high standards. The intern reports to the Chief Engineer and works closely with the Engineering team.

As Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for the following duties:

Electrical & Mechanical Support

  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and control panels.
  • Support routine checks and servicing of mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, and HVAC systems.
  • Help troubleshoot minor electrical and mechanical issues under supervision.

Operations & Maintenance

  • Assist in preventive maintenance schedules for electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Support daily inspections of equipment to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
  • Record and report maintenance needs or irregularities to supervisors.

Administration & Documentation

  • Update maintenance logs, checklists, and engineering reports.
  • Assist in inventory management of tools, spare parts, and engineering supplies.
  • Support scheduling and documentation for engineering trainees.

Event & Special Projects

  • Assist in preparing technical setups for VIP events or special functions.
  • Support energy-saving and sustainability initiatives within the hotel.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other tasks as required to support the Engineering department.

What We Expect from You

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong interest in hotel engineering operations and technical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles.
  • Good command of English and strong organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
