About the job

 

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong within Security Department in Hong Kong, the Director of Risk Management is responsible for the safety and security of all guests, visitors, and staff members for both Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong and The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. The Director of Risk Management reports to the Deputy General Manager and Hotel Manager. 

 

As Director of Risk Management, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Safeguard hotel guests, colleagues, and both tangible and intangible assets by developing and maintaining a responsive organization that meets evolving safety, security, health, and hygiene requirements

  • Design and implement a comprehensive security program in line with MOHG Group Security standards, in response to identified risks and operational needs

  • Respond judiciously to security-related situations, ensuring swift resolution to minimize disruption and prevent escalation

  • Lead all FLHSS initiatives, ensuring compliance with statutory and corporate requirements; drive continuous improvement to achieve target scores in annual audits, coordinating training and meetings, providing guidance and supervising departmental “Champions”

  • Provide advice and assistance to all hotel departments on occupational safety; investigate and complete formalities for work-related accidents

  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping of passes, key issues, and gate passes; conduct regular patrols to identify and mitigate potential risks or losses

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with external stakeholders, including the Hong Kong Police Force and other hotel security departments

  • Ensure corporate information security policies, processes, and procedures are properly implemented and adhered to across the hotel

  • Remain current to statutory, corporate, and industry requirements, ensuring the hotel remains compliant and resilient against emerging risks

     

As Director of Risk Management, we expect from you:

  • Degree holder in Risk Management, Hospitality Management or relevant discipline

    ·       Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role, preferably in a luxury hotel

  • Strong knowledge of Fire, Life, Health, Safety, and Security (FLHSS) standards, occupational safety regulations, and risk management frameworks

  • Proven experience in crisis management and incident response, with the ability to act decisively under pressure

  • Excellent written and spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with sound business acumen to balance risk mitigation and operational excellence

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with internal departments and external stakeholders
