About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental in Canouan, the Director of People & Culture will be the business partner to the General Manager and Leadership team, responsible for translating business strategies into relevant and actionable People & Culture plans. You will be responsible for leading the People & Culture Team to deliver value-added HR solutions, which will strengthen the Mandarin Oriental culture to attract, retain and engage talent and elevate the overall colleague experience.

 

As Director of People & Culture, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Develop and execute People & Culture strategy aligned with organizational mission, act as a change agent and cultural steward.
  • Oversee full cycle recruitment, onboarding, performance management, succession planning, and retention programs.
  • Drive employee engagement, satisfaction, wellbeing, and foster a values-based, collaborative environment.
  • Handle complex employee issues, investigations, and grievances, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
  • Manage benefits, compensation structures, benchmarking, and ensure fairness and competitiveness.
  • Ensure legal compliance (labour laws, data protection) and manage HRIS, policies, and budgets.
  • Support leadership, facilitate training, and implement programs for growth and high performance. 
  • Responsible for the compliance of relevant local labour laws and legislations.
  • Act as the agent of continuous transformation, shaping processes and a culture that together improve the organisation’s capacity for change.

 

As Director of People and Culture, we expect from you

  • Extensive Human Resources Experience in Hospitality operations. Experience in Luxury Hotels preferred.
  • Excellent leadership skills. Able to partner with General Manager and leadership team to foster our Mandarin Oriental People & Culture agenda.
  • Effective communication skills both written and spoken, in English, with strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to assemble, analyse, understand integrated spreadsheets, and complex information.
  • Prioritisation and organisational skills necessary to meet deadlines and project execution.
  • Knowledgeable of local legislation and processes and proficiency in payroll and HR systems.

 

Experience and education

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a comparable position in a luxury hotel operation preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Human Resources Management or related field
