The Director of Marketing Communications determines the brand positioning of the hotel and develops the overall marketing strategy, comprising of public relations, marketing and digital strategies, to ensure that the hotel receive optimal coverage and awareness in the market. These strategies combined will generate aspiration, interest and desire for the hotel and each of its business streams through creative strategies and plans.
The position comprises overseeing three marketing disciplines, namely public relations, marketing and digital and to ensure that respective strategies and plans are developed and executed to support the overall business objectives of the hotel and each business stream.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the department in accordance with Mandarin Oriental Standards and set hotel objectives
Monitor day to day work and projects are on track and to provide guidance to ensure team colleagues are able to proceed with project tasks efficiently and confidently
Ensure that departmental levels of KPIs are in line with hotel objectives
Always lead by example
Oversee monthly departmental expense to ensure it is in line with annual budget
Interview and recruit colleagues as per job specifications and form an efficient and motivated team
Motivate, train, supervise, evaluate and discipline Marketing Operations colleagues
Attend managerial meetings if requested and participate actively in achieving productive results
Ensure team leaders are monitoring annual contracts, proactively assessing vendors or suppliers.
Review regularly Standard Operating Procedures, and update Policies and Procedures in order to guarantee effective and efficient service as per Mandarin Oriental Standards
Conduct daily meetings with Managers and team colleagues to provide information on hotel business overview, upcoming marketing events, check on project status, and provide guidance on projects and issues
Conduct appraisals, disciplinary actions, and performance reviews on a regular basis
Identify colleagues for further development or training needs
Monitor training plans and measurements for training needs
Ensure all audit requirements are met for LQA, MOQA, LQE, QTA and conduct regular self-audits
Respond to trade or guest requests and needs professionally, timely and with passion
Handle trade and guest complaints in a polite and highly professional manner
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays
Be creative, energetic and willing to exceed expectations in order to motivate team colleagues and drive team spirit
Motivate and inspire the Marketing Communications team to continuously deliver aspirational content and capture interest from the market
Coach and train colleagues to increase colleague satisfaction and productivity
