About the job
Based in the Sales and Marketing Department in New York City, the Director of International and Diplomatic is responsible for ensuring the hotel achieves the annual Transient and Group revenue goals from assigned international markets, managing expenses to budget. The individual will oversee overall day to day operation, planning, and long-term outlook of such International Sales markets, including Transient, Groups and Diplomatic, reporting to the Director of Sales.
As Director of International and Diplomatic Sales you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Support company's philosophy and company culture through the use of Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement.
- Oversees International (EMEA and Asia) and Diplomatic territories for both transient and group segments, and lead for Fan Club in assigned markets, territories are subject to change based on business needs.
- Provide leadership, training and support for Sales Coordinators, Service Managers and Coordinators while providing support to the Director of Sales and Director of Marketing & Commerce on managing the day-to-day Sales operations, including contract term reviews and sales activity and strategy planning.
- Ensure hotel achieves budgeted annual revenues
- Analyse and evaluate client production and implement sales action plans in assigned markets.
- As subject matter expert, contribute towards budgeting process, production analysis and to feedback on market conditions
- Actively solicits new business to steal share from the competitive set and engage in client activities including tradeshows, roadshows, sales calls, office visits, events, site inspections entertainment, meet & greet, phone and email solicitation including cold calls.
- Utilize SalesForce system for activity logging and account management, Cvent for RFP management and prospecting via Group Pipeline Intel, and HMS for hotel inventory / reservations
- Works closely with the Global Sales teams to ensure revenue goals are achieved and to develop new business.
- Works with internal departments to ensure clear communication for all VIPs and any special requests are met for in-house guests
- Remain available to hotel colleagues at all times.
- Attend meetings as needed including Morning Meeting, Team Huddle, GRC, Resume, VIP Meeting, Revenue Meeting, and Sales & Marketing Quarterly Meeting
- Ensure expense reports are submitted in a timely manner to Accounting
- Provide feedback and market information on changing market conditions, including trends on the competition, as a result of direct sales solicitation, telephone, reading material and interaction with competitive hotel staff

As Director of International and Diplomatic Sales we expect from you: (brief overview of requirements)
- Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior role in international and diplomatic sales as well as in a luxury hotel union environment; minimum 5 years’ experience in hospitality.
- Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
- Must be willing to work in the office at least 4 days a week
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks.
- Must be willing to travel to assigned markets at least once a year or as market requires, as discussed with DOS and DOMC during annual goal setting.
- Must be a self-motivator and motivator of others.
- Must work in a safe, prudent and organized manner.
- Must have mathematical skills, computer software aptitude and hotel operation knowledge.
- Must be able to relate to all levels of management
- Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
- Must have superior organizational skills
Desirable
- Knowledge of specific hospitality industry applications is desirable (SalesForce, Cvent, HMS and Agency360 preferred)
- A second language is preferred

Salary and Benefits:
- Salary: $110,000- $125,000
- Bonus Eligible
