Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong within Finance (Share Service) Department in Hong Kong, the Cost Control and Financial Planning & Analysis Manager is responsible for optimizing costs and guiding strategic financial decisions across all departments, especially within the extensive food & beverage (F&B) operations. This position blends analytical rigor with operational understanding, ensuring financial goals are achieved while maintaining top-tier service and guest satisfaction. The Cost Control and Financial Planning & Analysis Manager reports to the Assistant Financial Controller.
As Cost Control and Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Cost Control:
Monitor and analyse all hotel expenditure, with special focus on F&B costs, ensuring ongoing alignment with budgets and cost-saving initiatives.
Implement and maintain robust cost control procedures for purchasing, inventory management, waste reduction, and portion control.
Collaborate closely with F&B managers and chefs to review menu engineering, supplier selection, and contract negotiations.
Conduct regular audits of stock and consumables to investigate variances and identify areas for improvement.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes for the hotel, ensuring all departments are equipped with accurate financial data for informed decision-making.
Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, performance analyses, and business reviews to senior management.
Analyze trends in revenue, expenses, and profitability, and identify risks or opportunities for operational and financial improvement.
Support strategic initiatives, including new F&B concepts, capital investments, and cost optimization projects.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Partner with department heads to cultivate a culture of financial responsibility and cost consciousness.
Provide training and guidance to operational teams on financial procedures and best practices.
Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, suppliers, and finance partners on cost control and FP&A matters.
As Cost Control and Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, we expect from you:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA) preferred.
At least 5 years’ experience in hospitality finance, with a demonstrated record in cost control and FP&A, ideally in large hotels or resorts.
Strong knowledge of F&B operations, inventory management, procurement, and menu costing.
Proficiency with financial systems, data analysis tools, and Excel; experience with hotel management software is an asset.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
