Mandarin Oriental, Makati is an upcoming 5-star luxury hotel set within the lush Ayala Triangle Gardens, at the prestigious corner of Paseo de Roxas and Makati Avenue. Scheduled to open in 2026, this landmark development will feature 275 elegantly appointed guestrooms and suites, offering a refined blend of contemporary design and timeless sophistication. The Role

The Barista is responsible for delivering exceptional beverage experiences and personalized service to guests, ensuring that every interaction reflects the legendary service standards of Mandarin Oriental. The role is responsible for the efficient preparation and presentation of all hot and cold beverages, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and contributing to a seamless and memorable guest experience. The Barista serves as a key ambassador of the brand by demonstrating professionalism, product expertise, and a commitment to excellence in every aspect of service delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

  • Deliver a warm, professional, and personalized service experience to all guests, ensuring satisfaction throughout their visit.
  • Engage with guests courteously and confidently, anticipating their needs and preferences.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to guest requests, concerns, and feedback.
  • Ensure any matters affecting guest satisfaction are communicated to the appropriate supervisor, allowing timely corrective action.
  • Maintain a calm, professional, and positive demeanor during busy service periods and unusual situations.
  • Support the hotel's reputation for outstanding service by consistently exceeding guest expectations.

Beverage Preparation & Product Quality

  • Prepare and serve all hot and cold beverages in accordance with established recipes, presentation standards, and quality specifications.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and excellence in beverage preparation at all times.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of beverage offerings, ingredients, preparation methods, and service standards.
  • Monitor beverage quality and presentation prior to service to ensure compliance with Mandarin Oriental standards.
  • Obtain and replenish beverages and bar supplies from storerooms as required to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Operational Excellence

  • Attend daily pre-service briefings to receive operational updates, promotions, service priorities, and important guest information.
  • Ensure all mise en place is prepared and maintained at prescribed levels throughout service periods.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the beverage preparation area and pantry.
  • Ensure the pantry remains fully stocked, orderly, and efficient to support seamless operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring colleagues can easily locate products, equipment, and resources.
  • Contribute to efficient workflow and service delivery through effective time management and teamwork.

Hygiene, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards in accordance with hotel policies and local regulations.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and preparation of all products to maintain food and beverage safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free work environment at all times.
  • Adhere to all hotel policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.

Teamwork & Colleague Development

  • Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate flexibility to support operational requirements.
  • Assist in the onboarding and training of new colleagues through guidance, coaching, and positive reinforcement.
  • Share knowledge and best practices to support team performance and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations.

Professionalism & Personal Standards

  • Maintain exemplary grooming, hygiene, and appearance standards in accordance with Mandarin Oriental policies.
  • Ensure the assigned uniform is clean, presentable, and in excellent condition at all times.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions with guests and colleagues.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality, ensuring reliability and accountability in fulfilling assigned duties.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent qualification required.
  • Certification in Food & Beverage Service, Hospitality, Coffee Preparation, or a related field is an advantage.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a barista, beverage preparation, food and beverage service, or hospitality role preferred.
  • Previous experience in a luxury hotel, high-end café, lounge, or restaurant environment is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with specialty coffee preparation, tea service, and beverage presentation standards is preferred.
