Mandarin Oriental New York is looking for a Banquet House Attendant to join our Banquet team.

About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental New York, within the Banquet Department in New York City, the Banquet House Attendant is responsible correctly setting-up and breaking down all Banquet Function Rooms.

The Banquet House Attendant reports to the Banquet Manager.

As Banquet House Attendant, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Support company’s philosophy and company culture through the use of “Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences”, “Guiding Principles” and “S.E.R.V.I.C.E. that delights” on a daily basis to ensure the guest satisfaction and the achievement of our “Mission Statement”.
  • Follow proper payroll and uniform procedures.
  • Set up banquet rooms with equipment for functions according to floor plans received from the Catering department or from the Banquet Manager.
  • Clean function rooms including, but not exclusive to, vacuuming, dusting, shampooing of carpets, cleaning mirrors, marble, etc.
  • Provide any additional banquet equipment: i.e. tables, chairs, flipcharts, etc. for function rooms or for set-ups in guest rooms.
  • Retrieve materials, props, crates, boxes, etc. from the receiving dock and store them safely and properly, where appropriate. Help unload the delivery trucks when hosts of functions are delivering products.
  • Ensure that function rooms are clean and available for showing to guests even when not in use.
  • Maintain a cooperative, professional working style with supervisors and fellow workers.
  • Perform all job related tasks with utmost concern for equipment and safety for oneself and fellow workers.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of all storage rooms.
  • Take dirty linen to the laundry area.
  • Hang skirts properly, set-up and skirt risers, tables, flags, banners, etc. when needed.
  • Set-up with designated linen all registration areas, including buffets.
  • Set-up, move and retrieve any kind of rental equipment.
  • Attend and participate in all required assistance.
  • Assist guests whenever they request assistance.
  • Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  • Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff

  • Average reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Able to read and comprehend Banquet floor plans.
  • Able to follow instructions.
  • Able to carry and lift objects of at least 30lbs.

Pay and Benefits:

  • Pay $ 35.37 to $47.17 hourly- commensurate with experience
  • A competitive benefits package, including health, dental and vision, 401(K), etc
