Assistant Director of Sales

The Assistant Director of Sales is responsible for overseeing the Sales strategy in the North American Market and supports the Director of Sales in overseeing day to day sales efforts of the Sales Managers and the Sales Executives. The Assistant Director of Sales reports to the Director of Sales.

 

About the role:

  • Set sales goals and develop key accounts in key markets, while also leading the Sales team to achieve sales targets and related tasks set by the hotel. Most importantly, engage the Sales team, recognise achievements and support in shaping their career development path;
  • Ensure that all team members maintain and develop customer relationships in the region or segment they are responsible for;
  • Regularly analyse customer output, anticipate market trends and design products and channels in advance to seize emerging business opportunities;
  • To meet and entertain all influential clients and ensure follow-up on all discussed details;
  • To organise and deliver familiarisation site inspection trips of the hotel;
  • To plan and attend trade shows and sales calls in the North American market to identify market opportunities for the hotel;
  • Assists in the formulation and implementation of sales & marketing strategies for maximising room revenues for the hotel;
  • To work with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group Regional Sales Offices and third-party organisations in assigned territories, to maximise sales opportunities;
  • To monitor sales activities of market competitors, build effective relationships and report at sales meetings;
  • To increase brand awareness for the Conservatorium Hotel and Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

 

To be a successful Assistant Director of Sales candidate, you will have:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a Sales environment, preferably withing the Travel & Hospitality industry;
  • An established network of connections in the North American Travel Trade;
  • A Degree in hotel management or relevant;
  • Advanced proficiency in the English language (Dutch is a plus);
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Salesforce and Delphi;
  • Strong overall computer literacy, not limited to MS Office;
  • Ability to travel internationally when required.
