We are looking for an Assistant Director of Finance to complete our Finance Team and play a crucial role in driving financial strategy, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and supporting our organization's growth objectives.

 

The Assistant Director of Finance will support the Director of Finance for the determination of optimum control objectives and for the installation and maintenance of appropriate internal control systems over income, expenditure, assets and liabilities within the hotel. In the performance of these duties, the Assistant Director of Finance must maintain a spirit of responsiveness among all persons and functions supervised, in order to produce a positive and unified approach to the fulfillment of all responsibilities of the position.

 

The Assistant Director of Finance will be responsible for the following:

  • Preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations during month-end closing
  • Ensuring that local legislation and procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for following and understanding all MOHG and Hotel Policies & Procedures and Internal Audit checklist and ensuring that these are strictly followed by all areas of the hotel and the department.
  • Assisting the Director of Finance with forecasting and budgeting.
  • Assist in preparation and implementation on Policies and Procedures.
  • Performing any controller tasks during the absence of Director of Finance. 
  • Supporting department heads with making relevant and accurate decisions on financial matters.
  • To supervise the work, training and professional development of the employees in his area of responsibility, ensuring that all periodic reports are produced accurately and on time.
  • To assist in the training of new department members.
  • To ensure the Management Accounts are completed within the time laid down by Group and passed to the Director of Finance for revision.
  • To complete monthly reconciliations and assist in the preparation of the monthly financial statements.
  • To prepare and turnover all month end report files in readiness for end of month reporting.
  • To deputize for the Payroll Accountant in his absence.
  • To be actively involved in the search for opportunities to improve the profitability of the hotel and encourage the preparation of exception reports and analyses to help meet and measure the success of this objective.
  • To manage on behalf of the Director of Finance the statutory accounts requirement and the relationship with external auditors.
  • To manage, supervise and support all subordinate colleagues, with a view to optimizing the profitability of the hotel and improving the guest experience.
  • Posting of activity to the general ledger, including monthly accruals.
  • Research and correct discrepancies.
  • Work directly with Department Heads to assure accurate inventory and actively participate in the monthly inventory process and perform spot checks.
  • Take initiative to identify problem areas and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • To carry out any other duties that may be reasonably requested by the Director of Finance.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Hospitality Management.
  • Two to five years as Assistant Director of Finance, ideally with experience with Hospitality Accounting operations.
  • Prolific in all Windows Based Software Application and a very strong level of proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to assemble, analyze, understand integrated spread sheets and complex technical information
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills - Prioritization skills necessary to meet deadlines
  • Effective management and leadership skills
  • An ability to establish and retain effective working relationships with hotel staff and clients/vendors
  • Applies a professional, confidential and ethical approach at all times
  • Analytical thinker
  • Flexible and reliable
  • Responsible for understanding and having a working knowledge of all areas in accounting and being able to assist or cover a position if needed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Very good knowledge of French and English 
  • Ability to handle high volume with attention to detail
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays
