Located on the southwest coast of the Peloponnese, one of the most unspoiled and breath-taking landscapes in the Mediterranean, and 45 minutes’ drive from Kalamata International Airport.
The beachfront resort is part of the sustainable resort destination of Costa Navarino, a well-established tourism destination which includes 3 other resorts. It comprises of 99 suites and villas, all with outdoor terraces and sea views, along with seven restaurants and bars.
Scope of Position:
The Assistant Bar Manager provides the highest level of service and professional excellence, being ever present in the operation and ensuring the highest standards. He/She builds and maintains inter-departmental cooperation and drives the financial and reputational success of the business.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists the Head of Bars and follows given guidelines, in creating and implementing beverage menus and bar philosophy.
- Assists guests regarding all beverage menu items in an informative and helpful way.
- Mixes drinks and controls the beverage stock as per guidelines.
- Possesses full knowledge of beverage lists and promotions.
- Possesses full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods.
- Follows outlet policies, procedures and service standards.
- Follows all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage.
- Prepares and serves all beverages to guests according to required standards in an efficient and friendly manner, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Ensures that accurate bills are presented to all guests.
- Organizes the bar and all related paperwork in an efficient manner and ensures successful monthly stock takes and stock sufficiency.
- Has an overview of the extensive wine and beverage stock and conducts regular spot checks, after the stock take, to ensure all Mandarin Oriental Policies & Procedures are followed.
- Ensures the appropriate presentation and cleanliness of the bar.
- Drives kind and generous service in always treating both guests and colleagues in a respectful manner.
- Ensures active and regular communication with the team through daily line ups, 1:1’s and monthly full departmental team meetings.
- Conducts daily liaison and partnership with the kitchen team to share information, best practice and ensures a harmonious relationship between culinary and service teams, resolving any concerns after, and not during, service.
- Ensures Service and Back of House areas are always kept clean and work is conducted, according to the Mandarin Oriental standards.
Qualifications / Experience:
- EU Passport or valid Residence Permit is mandatory in order to work in Greece.
- Degree in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management will be considered as a plus.
- Minimum of 4 years' working experience in a similar position, in a luxury hotel / restaurant.
- Preopening experience will be considered as a plus.
- Local and international food and beverage knowledge.
- Fluency in English.
- Strong overall computer literacy.
